If you're looking for a browser that is most compatible, I would strongly recommend Mozilla or Safari over Internet Explorer for Mac. I'm an Italian Mac user and I've to use IE because quite all the websites I visit work better with IE (maybe they're developed by Windows users?!?). It has all the same features as any Windows device Google Chrome and works flawlessly. Can you imagine a time where Mac devices were coming with the Internet Explorer pre-installed on them? Updated and I'm still having the text ghosting problems.
